LightNet-Sense: low-cost multisensor indoor digital-twin reconstruction

Group 08 is investigating whether a low-cost network of controllable visible-light emitters and photodiode receivers can localise a target object and reconstruct the optical disturbance it creates in a box-scale environment for a locally maintained indoor digital twin. The work begins with a matched deterministic simulator and box-scale rig before any room-scale claim is considered.

Investigation question

Can a low-cost set of labelled visible-light paths localise a target object and reconstruct its optical disturbance at target positions, target orientations and lighting conditions not used for calibration?

Intended outcome

The project aims to produce a reproducible box-scale result, quantify path observability, placement, calibration and reconstruction limits, and use measured evidence to decide whether the design should progress to a normal room.
